Greg's tip: As previously mentioned in the "Somewhere to Stay" section; you can sometimes persuade the travel department to split a direct flight for an indirect one via somewhere else and spend a few days elsewhere. This can save the cruiseline money as indirect flights are often cheaper. likewise; you can sometimes land a luxury flight purely because it was the only one available that day. A crew member arrived at the airport once only to discover she was flying on 'Concord'. It was the only way of getting her to the ship before it sailed and she was an emergency replacement. I landed a very expensive flight from Malaga to Gatwick once. I was expecting to see something under $100 on the ticket but instead it was over $300. I went to see the crew purser about it, even though I didn't need to pay for the flight. I thought there had been a mistake. The flight turned out to be first class with virgin. It was clearly the only flight they could get me. I flew home via Brussels  and the whole trip took me 5 hours but there were no complaints from me as I was hammered from all the complimentary champagne.
